SSE Electricity & Gas Tariffs
See the list below and then compare and switch your energy to see
if SSE could be cheaper for you.
The tariff options are as follows:
-
Standard/variable/ default tariff – If you haven’t agreed to a
contract (if you have just moved house for example) or your
previous deal has expired, you’ll be on this tariff. The costs
change depending on wholesale, distribution and taxation costs.
There are more cost-effective tariffs available if you compare
and switch your energy through a price comparison service like
Switch Squid. You will also be affected by the OFGEM Energy
Price Cap. See our guide for more information on the Energy
Price Cap.
-
Online Smart Saver- 12 months fixed term. Online account
management. No exit fee.
-
SSE Fix and Control – 2 years fixed term. Includes a Google Nest
Thermostat E and a Nest Hub to give lots of info on your energy
usage and control to help drive down costs. Online account
management. Includes 12 months boiler insurance plan. £75 per
fuel exit fee.
SSE: Green energy
SSE’s efforts with green energy aren’t as obvious as other
suppliers.
They only advertise the SSE Fix and Control tariff as one that
they ‘will match usage with power from wind and water
[generation]’ included in the price.
With all other tariffs, green energy needs to be ‘added’ at £3 per
month.
With that in mind, comparing and switching your gas and
electricity suppliers when thinking about becoming more
conscientious about your carbon footprint is the best way to stay
informed.
Customer Service Rating
ScottishPower’s call centre is open 8:00am – 6pm Monday to Friday
& 8:00am – 2pm on Saturday.
Much like other Top – Six energy suppliers, SSE fall short here.
Citizens advice rated them 2.7 stars out of 5 for customer service
for data collected January – March 2021 when looking at Fewer
Complaints, Ease of Contact, Clearer Bills, Ease of Switch and
Customer Guarantees.
You may find that switching your gas and electricity to SSE to be
more favourable when comparing your energy bills.
