British Gas Electricity & Gas Tariffs
British Gas offers four tariffs with a strong emphasis on green,
renewable energy.

The tariff options are as follows:

Safeguard PAYG/Standard/variable/ default tariff – If you
haven’t agreed to a contract (if you have just moved house for
example) or your previous deal has expired, you’ll be on this
tariff. The costs change depending on wholesale, distribution
and taxation costs. There are more cost-effective tariffs
available if you compare and switch your energy through a price
comparison service like Switch Squid. You will also be affected

Complete Protection – includes a 1 year fixed term energy
contract and Central Heating Breakdown Cover, Plumbing & Drains
Cover and Home Electrical Cover (Home Services Cover) for 12
months and at no extra cost. Exit fees of £30 per fuel.

Green Future Oct 2024 (Fixed)The greenest home-energy tariffs
you can get with British Gas with prices fixed until 31 October
2024. They’ll match 10% of the gas you use and 100% of the
electricity you use on this tariff with renewable sources. They
will also offset your gas carbon footprint from 90% of the gas
you use on this tariff. Exit fees of £40 per fuel.

HomeEnergy Secure Oct 2024v2 (Fixed)Fixed energy prices until 31
October 2024. 100% of your electricity use on this tariff
matched with renewable electricity by buying Guarantees of
Origin certificates (GoOs) or Renewable Energy Guarantee of
Origins certificates (REGOs) or both. Exit fees of £40 per fuel
British Gas: Green energy
With global warming and greenhouse gas pollution ever becoming a
worldwide emergency, energy suppliers and consumers have to act.
British Gas has a strong emphasis on green, renewable energy.
They have pledged high commitments ranging from supporting the
growth of up to 5 trees in the UK per fuel for each year a
customer is on the Green Future Oct 2024 (Fixed) tariff to
matching percentages of gas and electricity use with renewable
sources.
Customer Service Rating
British Gas’ call centre is open until 5 p.m. on weekdays and is
closed at weekends.
Citizen’s Advice gave British Gas 2.8 stars out of 5 for customer
service for data collected January – March 2021 when looking at
Fewer Complaints, Ease of Contact, Clearer Bills, Ease of Switch
and Customer Guarantees.
